The Importance of Proper Alignment and Posture
Our body functions as an interconnected system, where each part works together as one unit. Proper alignment is crucial in reducing stress on the spine, promoting good posture, and maintaining overall balance. When one part of your body is misaligned, it can disrupt your posture and affect your balance, leading to discomfort or even injury.
As podiatrists, we focus on treating patients from the ground up. By supporting the feet with custom orthotics, we help restore proper alignment throughout the lower limb. This adjustment cascades upward, placing the knees and hips in the correct position, which in turn improves the alignment of the lower back and spine.
Maintaining proper alignment and posture has a profound impact on your overall health and well-being. Not only does it improve comfort and function, but it also reduces the likelihood of pain and injury.
At LYF, our podiatrists are specialists in foot and ankle care, with a deep interest in the alignment and posture of the entire body. We work with you to ensure that your feet—and by extension, your body—are properly aligned for optimal health.
What is an EOS?
An EOS Imaging Scan is a state-of-the-art, ultra-low dose X-ray imaging system that captures detailed scans of a patient while they are standing upright. Unlike traditional X-rays, an EOS scan allows for the assessment of your natural, weight-bearing posture, which is essential for evaluating spinal alignment and understanding how the spine interacts with other parts of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the pelvis, hips, and lower limbs.
Who Needs an EOS Scan?
If your podiatrist suspects an underlying skeletal abnormality, they may refer you for an EOS scan. This scan is commonly used to check for conditions like scoliosis (curvature of the spine) or leg length discrepancies.
