Have Your Orthotics Seen Better Days? Or Never Worn Them Before?

If your orthotics are worn out or if you're unsure whether you need them, we can help! At LYF, we specialize in a variety of orthotic designs tailored to meet your individual needs.

Custom orthotics are uniquely crafted to fit your feet, following a prescription based on your symptoms, alignment, and biomechanics. Our goal is to provide you with orthotics that support, control, and reposition your feet to help you achieve normal gait patterns and improve your overall posture.

How Do We Make Your Custom Orthotics?

To create the perfect orthotics for you, we take a 3D scan or plaster cast of your feet, ensuring that your orthotics are precision-made for your unique foot structure. Whether you're dealing with lower limb pain, preventing injuries, or seeking to improve posture, custom orthotics can be an effective solution.

What Are They Made From?

Orthotics are typically made from materials like Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) or Polypropylene. Depending on your needs, they can be designed in full or half-length styles. We can also add extra padding for shock absorption, which helps alleviate pressure on your joints and improves comfort.

Additionally, we offer a variety of top-cover materials, so you can choose the best option for your needs:

  • Easy-to-clean surfaces
  • Sweat-absorbing materials
  • Extra cushioning for added comfort

Orthotics can make a big difference in your overall foot health and well-being. If you're ready to find out if custom orthotics are right for you, book an appointment today!

Do You Need Different Orthotics for Different Shoes?

Whether or not you need multiple sets of orthotics depends on the activities you do and the types of shoes you wear. While, in most cases, a single pair of custom orthotics can be effective for everyday use, some people may benefit from having separate orthotics for different shoes or activities.

For example, if you wear slim-fit dress shoes, or engage in specific sports or activities that require different levels of support, you may need an additional set of orthotics tailored to those needs.

Custom Orthotics Can Help With:

  • Elevating pain in the lower back, hips, and knees.
  • Relieving foot pain, including conditions like plantar fasciitis, heel pain, and metatarsalgia.
  • Correcting malalignment of the lower limb to improve overall posture.
  • Preventing foot rolling (inward or outward) to enhance stability and gait.
  • Offloading pressure to prevent diabetic foot ulcers from forming.
  • Preventing further development of bunions by reducing strain on the affected area.
  • Improving running gait and posture, enhancing athletic performance.
  • Correcting walking issues and improving posture, especially in children.
  • Reducing strain on soft tissues and muscles, promoting overall foot health.
  • Providing comfort and support for individuals who stand for long periods of time.
  • Improving symptoms of tired, aching legs and feet.
  • Reducing pressure to help prevent friction, calluses, corns, and blisters.

If you would like to explore whether custom orthotics are right for you, or if you need a specific pair for your activity or footwear, please book a Biomechanical Assessment with our podiatrist today.
